The Maritime Security Agency (MSA)'s ship Barkat apprehended 09 Indian fishing boats along with 52 crewmembers onboard on October 23, 2005 for fishing illegally in Pakistani waters.

The ship was on routine patrol in the Eastern Maritime Region, when it found these boats fishing illegally about 45 kilometres inside Pakistan's Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).

According to MSA, the Indian fishermen had been warned time and again not to indulge in illegal fishing but they repeatedly violated the sea boundaries by coming in EEZ to explore benefits from the rich fish resources at the mouth of Indus Delta.

Later, the apprehended fishermen were handed over to Docks police for further legal action.-PR
